The influenza A(H1N1) virus has been changing its structure rapidly, pinpointing a risk that it will mutate and become resistant to available drugs, a medical expert said at a seminar here Friday.
Prof Dr Thiravat Hemachudha said the structural change in other strains would have taken years, not just months like this.
"So, relevant authorities have to be fully prepared about drugs and vaccines against the influenza A(H1N1)," he said.
He predicted that the new disease would continue to spread given that the virus had proved very contagious.
