The city administration is seeking review of a Cabinet decision yesterday which halved the Bt26billion budget it was requesting from the government, Bangkok governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra said Tuesday.
The Democrat-governed Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will seek assistance through Deputy Interior Minister Thaworn Senneam, a party MP, in the coming parliamentary session in August to ask the government to fully approve the entire budget.
The Cabinet yesterday approved Bt13.1 billion for the BMA.
With the budget cut, Sukhumbhand said the BMA would have difficulty running two policies initiated by the government 15-year-free compulsory education, and pension funds for retirees from schools and those based in Bangkok.
